RRC Club Calendar 2014/15

I am very pleased to be able to share with you the 2014/15 season calendar for RRC. I encourage you all to use this as a guide to help plan the upcoming rowing year and mark those all important dates in your diaries.
I can not promise there won’t be any alterations/ammendments over the course of 11 months but the committee has worked hard to try to lock in the important dates so you all have a good knowledge of what we have to look forward to this year. With the number of active rowers we are seeing at training currently I am feeling very confident that we will have a great year.
Can I just remind/advise you all to check the events listings on the website and the online, interactive club calendar throughout the year which does include more details regarding events and will be kept updated.
Also if anyone has ideas about more events rowing, social or fundraising or would like to offer themselves as a volunteer to organise or help co-ordinate any of these events please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated .
So download the calendar now and stick it on your wall.

World Rowing Masters Regatta Ballarat, October 9-12 2014

logoEntries for the World Masters Rowing Regatta close this weekend, so can you confirm ASAP if you want to race and which days you are available.
RRC intends to go up for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday although if you can only race on one or a combination of those days please make that clear.
Sunday racing is the fun day with mixed races.
Race seat fees are a slightly steep $50 each, so the plan is to do a maximum of four races each, please clarify if you are limited to less than that. Just to confirm you will need to arrange your own accommodation if you want to stay in Ballarat. In addition there will be a small cost for the trailer to get the boats to and from Ballarat, approx. $10.

Could you please email [email protected] by Thursday 14 August to confirm if you are keen to race and any preferences for events, such as sweep/scull, doubles fours eights etc. We will try our best to meet your preferences dependent on the number of sign ups we have.

This week we have 38 signed up for rowing and 18 for club races.
How does club races work?
Immediately after our normal 10am coached session, you will be sent out in crews that have been put through the ‘sorting hat’
It is a 250 metre sprint from the judges box, to the front of our club house. We anticipate it to be over within half an hour and there is bling for the winners.
If you haven’t signed up yet, go for it. It’s a very quick splash of fun!
Please dress in your Tiger Zootie on Sunday, or black and gold if your order hasn’t come in as yet.
We want to get some whole club black and gold pics

The club’s new training season officially starts this coming Sunday. Please read this post to find out what is happening. As you will have seen from previous posts, the committee and a bunch of volunteers have been working hard to make this coming season a good one for the club in every sense.
We will launch the season plans as part of the AGM this Saturday. Be there for more info. Straight after the AGM, there will be the first coaches meeting for the season to discuss the plans from the coaches’ perspective generally, and to go through the details for the first few weeks.
