Just a quick note to everyone to say you may have noticed some bags of lost property appearing in the changing room this weekend.
Please note this is all the unclaimed property from the locker room clear-out before the redevelopment began. You have ONE WEEK to reclaim anything that belongs to you or we will be disposing of/or passing on to a charity shop unwanted items.
You have until the end of next weekend, so make sure you check before camp.
Thanks
Help throw out our old furniture this Friday morning
If you have some free time on Friday morning after 8.30 am, please help us clear out our old furniture into the skip!
If those training Thursday night can flex those muscles for an extra workout and carry stuff down ready to go that will be a great help.
NOTE: Thursday/Friday will be an excellent time to claim any items cleared from lockers.
Redevelopment and Access Update 1 September
We will be moving back into the original part of the rowing shed next week which is fantastic.
We will be buying new furniture as part of the project so we need a hand on Friday morning to chuck out all the old tables and chairs and any other junk we have in the boathouse and you will get a sneak preview of how good it is. Time to be confirmed.
Once we are in, it is common to find some things don’t work quite properly. If this is the case, DON’T try to fix it. Everything is under warranty and builders’ guarantee and we will lose that if we try to fix things ourselves. If you find something does not work or does not seem right, please just email me on [email protected]. I can then follow up with the architects and builders.
Please wait until you are notified via this blog page before you start accessing the hall area. It’s tempting but it is still a building site until it is formally handed over!
Works this week:
– Installing the concrete screed and then grass on the deck
– Finishes to new stair
– Finishes to paintwork
– Completion of carpeting
– Defects inspection and rectification process commences
RRC Club Calendar 2014/15
I am very pleased to be able to share with you the 2014/15 season calendar for RRC. I encourage you all to use this as a guide to help plan the upcoming rowing year and mark those all important dates in your diaries.
I can not promise there won’t be any alterations/ammendments over the course of 11 months but the committee has worked hard to try to lock in the important dates so you all have a good knowledge of what we have to look forward to this year. With the number of active rowers we are seeing at training currently I am feeling very confident that we will have a great year.
Can I just remind/advise you all to check the events listings on the website and the online, interactive club calendar throughout the year which does include more details regarding events and will be kept updated.
Also if anyone has ideas about more events rowing, social or fundraising or would like to offer themselves as a volunteer to organise or help co-ordinate any of these events please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated .
So download the calendar now and stick it on your wall.

Access Update – No access this Friday 22 August
Please note that there is no access to the boathouse this Friday 22 August at any time as there will be cement screed poured inside the building preventing access.
Other than Friday, there will be no changes to access until after Friday 5 September when we hope to be given a provisional Certificate of Occupancy for the original part of the building.
We expect to have complete access to all areas of the new building in late September after the fire service main has been connected. Unfortunately this is reliant on scheduling by SE Water and cannot be brought forward.
The builders expect to complete works in the next 2 weeks and then defect resolution (a standard process) will occur in the week after, leaving us the boathouse ready for our use after 5 September. There is plenty of work still happening – the plywood ceiling in the new gym and classroom, painting, carpeting, finishing the balcony and pergola and general fitting off plus tidying up the external areas.
Thanks for everyone’s patience while the building works are happening. I think everyone will be wow-ed by the boathouse when we regain access.
Postponement of coxing masterclass
I am sorry to inform you that we will have to postpone next weekends (Sunday 23rd August) coxing masterclass. We unfortunately still do not have access to the upstairs central area of the clubhouse while the builders put the finishing touches to the redevelopment and so we have decided to postpone for a later date.

Fun Sunday at Rowing
This week we have 38 signed up for rowing and 18 for club races.
How does club races work?
Immediately after our normal 10am coached session, you will be sent out in crews that have been put through the ‘sorting hat’
It is a 250 metre sprint from the judges box, to the front of our club house. We anticipate it to be over within half an hour and there is bling for the winners.
If you haven’t signed up yet, go for it. It’s a very quick splash of fun!…
Please dress in your Tiger Zootie on Sunday, or black and gold if your order hasn’t come in as yet.
We want to get some whole club black and gold pics
