Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Thanks to everyone who made last nights Christmas party a big success. I can’t believe now we have our beautiful deck and air conditioned clubhouse last night was the first time in at least five years the RRC Christmas party has been held on a wet sub 30 degree day – but that’s just the way it goes.
We’ll have a second chance to party this Summer though with RRC hosting a New Years Eve party. Come and celebrate NYE at the best venue in Melbourne! Tickets are $60 which includes finger food and light refreshments and they on sale now via trybooking http://www.trybooking.com/116075 (password RRC1863). Drinks will be available at the bar. Smart dress code: Black and gold theme.
NB. Security will be present and tickets and photo ID will be required to gain entry to the event.
NYE RRC Invite

Our clubhouse always has been one of the best places to watch the City of Melbourne fireworks and this year with the new deck I am confident it will be a remarkable way to see in the new year!
On behalf of the RRC committee we wish you all a great holiday season and look forward to a great 2015.

RRC CHRISTMAS RAFFLE 2014

This year we have a bumper raffle with super prizes and we need your help to sell tickets. Funds raised will go toward expanding the fleet. We are asking you to commit to selling FIVE or TEN tickets to your family and friends. If you can help then please email Ainsley ([email protected]) to coordinate ticket collection. Ainsley will also attach a list of the confirmed prizes when you collect your tickets to sell.
The raffle will be drawn at the club on Christmas eve.

Many thanks, the fundraising committee

Boathouse Warming Purchases

Thank you to everyone who purchased items on the Boathouse Warming Gift List. We are busy organising the purchase of these items and you will find that the crockery and serving bowls and platters are already at the boathouse (and have been used for recent club events!).
RRC has received a generous donation of a coffee machine from Thalia (thanks Thalia!) and we hope that you are enjoying coffee on the terrace after Sunday morning training. For those that made a donation to purchase a coffee machine, we would like to redirect your donation to another item on the list as not all items were purchased by members. Be assured that your donation will still go towards an item that was on the list that helps set up the boathouse for your use.
The sound system for the gym was fully funded by members and will be purchased in the next few weeks to help make those ergos more enjoyable!

Women's Changerooms

We have had an inquiry about the MLC girls using the RRC changeroom and whether this is the arrangement with MLC.
We have agreed with MLC that the Senior girls will use the RRC changeroom which means that approximately 40 girls will be using it. Any MLC girl may use the toilets in the RRC changeroom as at times there may be large queues in the MLC changeroom with the number of junior girls compared to the number of toilets.

Sprint season is almost here…..

Thanks to all those who completed the sprint season survey, if you haven’t done it already please take 5mins to do it now (survey) as it will really help us to plan for upcoming events. Some more fun regattas are not far away!
Unfortunately looking at the responses we do not have enough interested people to attend the Hamilton regatta on the first weekend in December. Instead we will be launching the sprint season with club races at 10am on Sunday 7th December (squad training at 8am for those keen to get in some extra rowing), followed by some brunch, $5 a head. Please sign up as you would normally using mysportsplanner for both/either 8am and 10am events and if you are able to offer any help coordinating club races or brunch please let Justin know.
P.S. I know head racing is still at the forefront of most people’s minds and good luck to everyone over the next two weeks in both Melbourne Head and Head of the Yarra!

Melbourne Head

This weekend an amazing squad of tigers will take to the river in the Melbourne Head regatta. Everyone has been training hard and it has been great to see so many people at the clubhouse for this Head racing season.
Don’t forget after all the racing is done we will be opening the doors of our fantastic clubhouse to the Melbourne rowing community and welcoming friends and family to enjoy an afternoon on the terrace, with the bar open and some sausages sizzling. Please spread the word and if you are able to help on the bbq for an hour or so let me know [email protected]

Sprint Season – Rowers Intention Survey

I know everyone is fully focused on the head racing season at the moment but with the great commitment and numbers of participants we are seeing down at the club everyday at the moment we want to ensure we carry on the momentum into the next part of the season. We have a great base of fitness and skill and forward planning for the next part of the season will only help the tigers grow stronger.
Would you believe it but he sprint season is only a few weeks away. You may recall completing a survey earlier this year for the head racing season. Well it’s now time to do the same for the sprint season.
Please take the time to help us to know your rowing goals.
Click here to take the survey now.
Thanks for your participation!
