Quiz Fundraiser

I would like to invite you all to our Quiz – fundraiser night on March 14.  Fundraising is a critical part of club activities, this year we are looking to use the funds raised from this night towards new ergos and oars so it would be see a big attendance.
Some of the main fundraising activities are the live auction and silent auction. We count on the membership to offer prizes for sale to make these successful. Past offers include use of a holiday house for a week, on-water coaching sessions, gardening and cleaning services, wine, catering and homewares. If you have something we can sell (including your time and labour!), please contact Lindsey on [email protected].
Friends from outside of the club are more than welcome, you can arrange with Shern [email protected] to book for a whole team (ten people), part of a team or just bring yourself.  See you there!
Cheers
Justin

Sprint racing weekend in Rutherglen

A big contingent from Richmond headed to Rutherglen for the first sprint event of the season on the weekend of the 8th. In a hotly contested competition on Lake Moodemere, the club took out golds in 10 events.
Races were held over 800m and 500m courses, which made for close races and sometimes clashing oars. As anyone who’s raced at Rutherglen before knows, staying in your lane is an extra skill on top of staying upright in your boat and crossing that finish line.
Special congratulations to all the winning crews listed below and Kathryn Macrow for jumping into the coxing seat time and time again bringing success with it.
Many thanks to all Richmond rowers, coaches and organisers for a great weekend. Next year will be the 150th Rutherglen event and no doubt will draw even bigger numbers to what is already one of the highlights of Rowing Victoria’s calendar so mark it in your diaries for January 16-17th 2016!

Sprint season is underway

Well done to all who attended our Sprint Rowing Camp on the weekend. Special thanks to all our dedicated coaches and once again, especially to Lindsey for her support helping to organise our coxes.
The flash of black and gold on the water was very impressive. Many sessions we had 3 eights, three quads, 3 fours and other boat combinations. That is a massive effort. You should all feel a little sore, with renewed blisters and fitness!
Now to channel that fitness into some racing.
We are currently organising entries for Lake Colac Regatta Sunday 01st Feb. Urgently  review your status on sportsplanner for this regatta so we can complete crew planning. Entries are due this weekend.
I will be emailing the women’s squads directly.
Sadly, this year we will not be attending the Pennant Regatta in Tasmania. The logistics for such a regatta are heavy and with so many other rowing commitments, we just haven’t been able to execute this.
It will remain on the agenda for 2016 and a planning group allocated.
See you on the water this week for some more ‘quick legs down’ training
Regards, Rochelle

Sprint training camp is here

Tomorrow you will need to be at the club by 8am and anticipate finish at 4:30pm
Sunday, at the club for 8:30am and anticipated finish around 3pm
Camp is on the Yarra.
There are multiple breaks through the day.
What to bring?
Camp is self-catered. Southbank is an excellent option for snacks and lunches if you don’t bring your own.
Bring your usual rowing kit and wear your racing RRC Zootie/kit as often as possible.
Spare socks and sunscreen.
We have around 60 Tigers attending the RRC camp this weekend. We’re looking forward to having some good rows with ‘speed’ by the end of day two.
Just putting the final touches on crews.
We’re looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Rochelle
Also please be aware City of Melbourne is holding the Midsumma Festival in Alexandra Gardens and so parking and access may be difficult, especially on Sunday. Set up will be from the 15th-21st January.

Unfortunately a member misplaced a black iPhone4 with a red film cover on the back at some point in the evening if anyone saw it or knows of its whereabouts please let me know by emailing [email protected] and I will reunite it with the owner.

These are great additions to our fleet.
