Thanks to everyone who attended the Planning day on Saturday 20th June and to those who completed the member feedback survey which is essential input into this day. We now have a draft plan for the year. We will publish the final plan in August when it is ratified by the 2015-2016 Committee.
You can read a summary of the input we received from the survey here: [wpfilebase tag=fileurl path=’End of Year Survey 2014-15.doc’ linktext=’End Of Year Survey 20…’ /]
RRC had a great season in 2014-15:
– We opened our new Boathouse is October
– Our WD8+ won Head of the Yarra
– 11 crews won medals at Victorian State Championships
– We had about 50 people compete in the regatta season
– We won medals at many regattas
– Fundraising (excluding venue hire) raised over $15,000
– There were lots of social events
– We had fun!
Our goals for 2015-16 are:
- Maintain membership numbers
- Increase rowing participation
- Improve our competitive level of rowing
- Continue to provide frequent social events
- Raise over $12,000 from fundraising
- Re-rack the boat bay
One significant item coming out of the planning day is that we are trying to make the structure of the rowing program clearer, have really clear expectations of rowers and crews and prioritise our resources around these commitments. We will also work to improve our Selection procedures to make these more transparent and timely.
The coaching group is meeting on Sunday 5 July at 9am to flesh out the details further. If you are thinking about coaching next season, please head down.
To find out more about the rowing program, come down on Sunday 19th July for the Winter Training Launch at 9am. We will explain how we want this year to run, give you key dates for the rowing year and answer any questions you may have. There will be training at 10am, followed by a brunch.
The Launch is applicable to rowers at all skill and commitment levels so head down if you want to be on the water this coming season (and at brunch you can catch up with everyone you haven’t seen since last season!)
There will of course also be lots of social events next year (possibly more than last year!) with regular Thursday nights continuing, club races and brunches, weekends away and more.
This of course needs lots of volunteers. Some people offered to assist through the feedback survey and we will be taking them up on it! However, the more the better so please speak to a Committee Member to find out how you can help make RRC even better in 2015-2016.
In particular we have had a couple of offers from people to be part of a Social Committee. We need some more volunteers for this group that would coordinate (but not necessarily do all the work for) social events such as regular Thursdays, Sunday brunches, Melbourne Head social event and the Christmas party. Please contact Karen on the [email protected] email if you want more information or to volunteer.
We are looking forward to a great 2015-2016.
Go Tigers!
