Learn to Row – Come & Try Weekend courses
Ever wondered what it’s like to row on the Yarra? Our Learn to Row – Come & Try Weekend is the perfect introduction to one of Australia’s most rewarding sports.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, looking for a new fitness challenge, or simply curious about rowing, you’ll spend a fun and supportive weekend learning the basics with experienced coaches and club members.
Over the weekend, you’ll:
- Learn fundamental rowing skills on rowing machines and on the water
- Experience rowing in crew boats with other beginners
- Build confidence in a safe and supportive environment
- Meet new people and discover the Richmond Rowing Club community
- Prepare for our Development Squad program
Experienced rowers who are interested in joining Richmond Rowing Club, or visiting for the weekend, are also welcome to participate and enjoy some casual rowing on the Yarra with our members.

What next? The Development Squad (DS)
Through your Learn to Row course you will have made new friends and developed a lasting enjoyment of rowing – you may even decide that you’d like to continue rowing and join our Richmond Rowing Club.
So what’s next? You will be invited to join the Richmond Rowing Club as a member of the Development Squad (DS). The Development Squad training program continues where the Learn to Row course leaves off- a 12 week program intended to lift new rowers to the skill level and independence needed to join the intermediate squad.
